    Your Role, Your Impact

    As a Building Service Engineer (Post Graduate), you will contribute to the delivery of FirstPort’s building performance framework. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring buildings operate as designed, stay compliant, and meet future sustainability and energy goals. You’ll develop technical and analytical expertise across critical building systems including BMS, HVAC, fire safety and smart infrastructure.

    This role reports to the Technical Manager – Energy and is part of a central technical team supporting operational excellence across the UK.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for tactical delivery of First Port’s building performance framework which involves identifying performance deviations from the design and intervening to mitigate issues
    • Act as the Subject Matter Experts (SME) for the operational strategy of the BMS, Fire and HVAC systems to ensure the performance of the assets are maintained as per the design.
    • Act as the primary super user of our smart building’s analytics platform, manage alerts and triage them in a timely manner.
    • Support, contribute and help shape our smart buildings analytics platform and remote support function.
    • Act as the custodian of First Ports intervention management process and ensure they are up to date.
    • Perform Deep Dive Audits on the existing building systems ranging from HVAC, Fire and Electrical Systems and identify opportunities / design gaps for optimisation through precise and actionable recommendations.
    • Monitor thermal comfort across the building and ensure the landlord equipment’s are providing the appropriate heating, cooling, and primary air as per building specifications. Investigate and provide close out plan to minimise the design gaps.
    • Act as the gate keeper for maintaining buildings as per designed. Identify, and remediate any deviations from the original building performance data.
    • Support our non-technical teams within operational delivery, to ensure 3rd Party recommendations are evaluated and actioned as appropriate.
    • Provide training to operational staff, key activities and benchmark tools to increase awareness.
    • Contribute to the training modules and act as the lead in rollout of site-based building performance awareness programme.

    • Support and provide technical guidance the ongoing development of data integration programme across the portfolio.
    • Monitor consumption meter data quality and triage accordingly for remedial action.
    • Lead and act as the sustainability framework champion for the infrastructure and work closely with our sustainability champions.
    • Build a strong engagement with operational team
    • Champion the deployment of innovative programmes in the realms of energy, sustainability or engineering.
    • Any other responsibilities required by the Line Manager.

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    • Acquired engineering degree or HND at UK recognised institution in one of the following fields.
    • Building Services
    • Energy and Sustainability Engineering

    Desirable:

    Experience or placement in an engineering role within a building management environment.

    Essential:

    • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Ability to produce engineering reports and proposals.
    • Good understanding on the energy management system and principles of Net Zero Carbon philosophy.
    • Self-starter and demonstrates eagerness in learning new technologies and frameworks.
    • Excellent understanding around energy and sustainability management along with key challenges.
    • Proficient in MS 365 suite of Apps (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
    • Good understanding around the fundamental engineering principles of Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. BMS Systems and Critical Fire equipment.

    Desirable:

    • Experience of safely working on a variety of HVAC installations, appliances and equipment.
    • Good understanding on latest smart systems and IOT technologies.
    • Excellent understanding of health and safety within the built environment.
    • Clear understanding around reliability engineering principles and techniques such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Reliability block diagrams.
